The mental prison - a jungian perspective on the dangers of Lunacy & Fantasy as a coping mechanism
They say the mind is the hardest prison to come out of. How can we identify our own mental prison, bad patterns and it’s origin story? This blog post explores the Jungian perspectives on the dangers of fantasy, lunacy, the ‘Puer Aeternus’ The eternal child, and the “false fate” we unconsciously can manifest. A lot of our own imprisonments come from childhood, but what can be far worse, is being trapped in those patterns through our adulthood that causes harm to ourselves and others. The mental prison can be our worst enemy, and or our escape of fantasy. Both can be horrifying. How can we escape the paradigms of unhealthy relationship dynamics or fantasy stories we created in our heads? And where do these ideals come from? Every ‘savior’ and ‘villain’ come from the same origin story; it is abandonment and rejection. And both are in the wrong. So how can we choose to rewrite a new story that will escape the illusion, and choose to be set free.
